Liz Berg from That Skinny Chick Can Bake

Liz Berg from That Skinny Chick Can BakeThere are a few food bloggers out there that I will never forget and Liz Berg from That Skinny Chick Can Bake is one of them. Right at the beginning of my food blogger journey back in 2011, I kept on stumbling upon the name Liz Berg and her creative outlet and wonderful baking blog, That Skinny chick can bake. Honestly, the name alone is just unforgettable but what struck me back then were the different well executed, decadent desserts and baked goodies. I am very much the visual kind of person, so her page design (the raspberries are so very Liz!) and the quick loading time of her page were another reason why I kept on coming.

But of course the reason why I was also hooked and kept on visiting Liz’s blog was mostly because of her being such a sweet and kind person and friend. Barely a few months after the inception of my blog, I dared to ask Liz, of course hoping at the same time, if she would like to guest post on my page and guess what? She did so by surprising us all with an unusual to me concept of an ice cream pie, which is a known American treat and it looks like an art piece!

Liz is a stay at home mom of three grown up kids, living in Indianapolis, U.S. Her family are her biggest fans, devouring her homemade sweets, cookies, cakes and desserts with passion! Therefore, Liz frequently prepares homemade desserts, sweet snacks and cakes. You will find plenty sweet chocolate and cheesecake recipes on her page since those are her family’s favorites. But that’s not all!

You see Liz enjoys french food and according to me her french recipes are some of the best English written recipes online. She and her family have of course visited France in the past and that’s where she had a chance to go deeper into french cuisine. Just take a look at Liz’s gorgeous Dilled Gravlax with Mustard Sauce, the outstanding chopped Liver with Quatré-Espices or her luscious Compote de Pommes and you will understand what I mean!

Liz also revealed that her parents were her biggest inspiration. Liz’s dad loved nearly everything her mom cooked…though he grew tired of her weekly tuna casserole when they were newlyweds and was not fond of his mom’s oxtail soup. Liz’s mom would bring home recipes from her bridge club and dazzle the family with the latest foodie trends.Liz explained…

Growing up in a small university town in the Midwest, she was still able to find “exotic” ingredients and treated us to dishes like baklava and paella!

Liz also enjoys cooking regular meals besides baking and of course she has a massive collection of various global dishes on That Skinny Chick Can Bake. I always marvel at the posting frequency and execution of her food posts, she is definitely one of the most active full time contemporary food bloggers. You will certainly find something on her blog, which will tickle your taste buds and the dishes will take you in and turn you into her biggest fan in time.

From all my heart, and I most probably speak for all our food blogger buddies, Thank you for being there for us Liz and for sharing your brilliant food discoveries with us all. You rock and the internet would not be the same without you!
